Hi everyone,
Hoping someone who is more familiar with the actual technical details of a Cogeco technician install could tell me why this is required in my case. I already have Cogeco Internet and wanted to sign up for the TV service. My assumption is that since the coax run is already in place in the house for the internet, it would be a simple matter of picking up a receiver for the TV, have them register it and enable the service on the backend. As a former Rogers customer, this is pretty much how it always went if you already had the coax run and at least one service running. Apparently, this is not an option at all with Cogeco.
I understand that the technician would have some meters that may give some more detailed readings on signal strength that may affect signal quality on different frequencies, but realistically, I don't think that's worth the charge for the visit when the cabling is already in place, not to mention that was installed by their own technicians previously.
Is something fundamentally different with Cogeco that I'm not given an option of not doing the technician visit and install fee?
Thanks!
