With the availability of Windows 10 in 6 weeks I just wondered if F-Secure will be continued as Cogeco's security service package? Anyone of the technical reps here know of plans?

[INTERNET] 55mbps plan still on 2mbps upload?

Hello, are there still a lot of cities still on the 2mbps upload? Does that mean there is no DOCSIS3 implemented yet? I was looking to switch from Bell Fibe but the 2mbps upload is way too low on a 55mbps plan. (I know it's normally 10mbps but in my area the 120mbps plans are greyed out and all the plans left come with 2mbps upload somehow) Anybody has info on this? Thank you!

[INTERNET] Having issues with Cogeco, considerable number of packet drop

Dealing with cogeco has been difficult. I'm not getting answers and even after contacting them, having a technician to take a look and replacing the modem I'm still having issues. What I've been able to do in my limited knowledge is track the problem by running and it drops about 7% of data over the course of the day. A few days a week around midnight the server doesn't respond until early morning, tech support says they have tried to restart it remotely and can see it at this time on their servers but can't get it to respond. Running tracert at various times throughout the day I'm also picking up that cogeco is switching servers that I'm connected to, though both cause problems, while I am connected to the server that has a route with two cogeco servers one after the other in it, I get far more problems. The other tracert's show only one cogeco server in the mix. At times and while on that server I'm getting a 7-8ms ping response without interruption while doing regular activities. I'm pinging internally too, no interruptions there either. I check cogeco server outages on my phone and not once has it declared a server outage in my area. On top of this I'm suppose to be on cogeco high speed internet, the fastest they have/ fiber optics run under my house... I wish I could leave this company behind, reading past articles and experiencing them first hand drives me up the wall but unfortunately they have a monopoly in my area so there isn't an alternative. For reference, I have a new cisco modem installed by cogeco and ASUS RT-N66U Modem and have updated its firmware. Turned on its packet drop recording function and I'm thinking I should turn it off because now the Router's logs are flooded with them.

[INTERNET] Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn (MMO) - Flagged as P2P Service Issue

I have been trying to get help with this issue as when I am playing this MMO I have some annoying Input Lag and just plain poor performance (everything just plays with a partial delay). It has been noted on the FFXIV Official Forums that some ISP's flag the game as a P2P service and thus throttle the traffic (generally outgoing). My Ping tests fine as the Servers are located in Quebec (40ms) Have played the game through a wireless hotspot on my cellphone and have amazing response times. Have played the game through a couple other ISP's and have amazing response times. So far it only seems to be an issue on ISP's noted for throttling P2P services, which I don't really care if they do, I'm just annoyed that it is effecting my non-P2P video game.

Our Cogeco service in Kingston has been going up and down all morning. I have tried several times to make this post, but each time it goes off again. Checked Cogeco site and it did not show this problem. But then I only was able to get that far once before it went off again Anyone else having this problem?

[TV] Poor Signal on HD Channels

I am looking for some insight into why certain HD channels are suffering from a poor signal, leading to a degree of 'scrambling' on the screen that disrupts the picture and sound. The issue, as far as I can tell, is only on one of the four Cogeco receivers in the house. I've checked all cables to/from the receiver in question, but nothing seems amiss on that front. The issue seems to be affecting only HD channels, and even then, it is only some of them, as others are fine. To give an example, the HD channel broadcasting a baseball game (as part of the Super Sports Package) is nearly unwatchable due to the scrambling, but its SD counterpart is fine. Is this a matter of the Cogeco receiver being faulty? Thanks for any insight anyone can provide. Boots

[INTERNET] High upload usage even with router disconnected

Hey, I've noticed some weird upload usage on my grandparents account. Starting Wednesday of last week, there has been between 4 and 6GB of upload usage, when there is no pictures, videos, torrents or any other files being uploaded. I was there from the Friday before(14th) until this last Saturday and checked router logs to verify no devices other than ours were connected. Even after I left(saturday) there has been the same usage every day, even after unplugging the router yesterday morning(tuesday). The only devices connected while I'm not there are 1 Smartphone(Nokia Lumia 710) and a Playstation 3. The usage cannot be the Lumia as it would use up tons of mobile data while away, which it did not. Phone support was useless, only repeatedly telling me to change the router password even though there was no devices connected. Any ideas?

Sick of Cogeco evening Slowdowns

Got Cogeco at our new house December 2014. Immediately noticed slow speeds in the evening and called in. Turns out it is congestion on the NODE and they have to split the node. This was to be done by June 2015. Well it still has not been fixed. This really puts a damper on online gaming as the latency and speed being both crap in the evening make it unplayable. Unfortunately the only other option around here is DSL that is 6 megs down (too slow for multiple Netflix users.. and I stupidly signed a contract before my promotion ended in June so that I could avoid the hassle of switch and I was assured they would have their network fixed. -- "The hardest thing about any political campaign is how to win without proving that you are unworthy of winning." ~ Adlai E. [TV] New TiVO Channels: Shaw PPV!?!?

So I sometimes look at the channel lists on my TiVO (Because new channels don'T get selected by default, as indicated by the tech when he installed it here), and some new channels were added to the listing, two being: SHAW PPV 1 and SHAW PPV 2. That raised an eyebrow! What are those? They don't go anywhere right now, I only get a black screen.

[INTERNET] Daily (afternoon) internet outage in St. Catharines

Anyone else having daily issues with their Cogeco internet connection? Mine has been dropping, pretty consistently, from around noon to 5 or 6 pm, daily. The modem tries to connect, but fails, all afternoon. Eventually, after 5 or 6 (don't have the exact time) it reconnects and seems fine until the next afternoon. No outages are ever shown on the website, and cable TV stays on. North end, St. Catharines, FWIW.

Full outage since around 5:30 AM?

Can anyone confirm a full outage in the Waterdown / Burlington area? Phone, Internet, and television are all down right now.

Outage or extremely slow speed...either way I'm not too happy

I live in Stoney Creek between Fruitland Rd and Fifty Rd on the north side and I've been having issues with Cogeco's internet, on and off, for almost a full year now. I've been experiencing very slow connection speeds and last night's speeds pushed me to the breaking point. I'm paying for 30M/10M service and what I'm getting is typically 10M/10M during peak (I'm assuming 7pm-10pm is peak) this is bad enough (if I were to only pay Cogeco 30% of my bill on a continuing basis I'm sure I'd be cut off fairly quickly), but last night's blistering 1.5M/1.5M speeds pushed me over the edge. I would like to know from a Cogeco rep, what EXACTLY is going on with my service. I work in the industry so feel free to use technical terms with me....like latency and jitter (my jitter last night was over 1100ms...when I talked to tech support I'm surprised it went thru). Really, I'm extremely frustrated right now and I'm seriously considering ending the internet fiasco here.

[INTERNET] Impossible to change ip with cogeco?

Hi Guys. I'm a streamer on twitch and I used to change my ip address every week or so just so noone could get my ip and try to do somthing with it. I was with bell before this, but now I'm with cogeco. I have a arris Tg2472 router/modem and I've tried everything to change it, I've tried resetting (Which would normally work with bells) and nothing happens. I've tried going into cmd and release/renewing, and I still have the same ip. I'm pretty sure cogeco is dynamic so I don't know why it's not changing.. Anyone have any ideas to help? Thanks.

I have Cogeco internet and don't want TV. I live in a condo that has a security camera in the lobby that is viewed on channel 117 and you can view who is buzzing your condo unit. How can I hook up to view channel 117 without having a TV subscription or having internet dropping & speed issues when someone buzzes my condo? Modem is Arris TG862 and TV/monitor is a Sharp Aquos LC-26D43U/LC-26D42U-W. Thanks, Jackorama -- "Whenever they invent something that's moron proof, someone comes by and invents a better moron." Last 2 days I have been receiving Sex related emails. Although they are addressed to me they also CC numerous other Cogeco Accounts or have my account in the CC. It would seem there has been a breech in account ids in order for these emails to be so addressed to numerous Cogeco Accounts. For your information!
