As toucan see in the screenshot, my router is getting the public IP instead of an Internal IP.
Also , The wifi got automatically disabled after I rebooted the modem.
After the hitron rebooted , I have rebooted the router as well. Voila.

Arris bridge mode
I have an Arris TG3452A. Cogeco has bridged it on their end. I told them I want it to be a modem only. It was somewhat hard to tell them what I wanted.. I originally had a "modem only" device
before.
Long story short , finally they made it a "bridge" device on their end... DHCP requests from any of the LAN ports gets a public IP (good.. that's what I wanted it to be). I have it connected to a pfSense router and it seems to perform good.
I have been using nVidia GeForce Now game streaming without a hiccup.
I also did downloads of various distros like Ubuntu and Debian at the same time.. no hiccups.
I have not had any problems with this setup. Thought I'd share this.

[INTERNET] Hitron coda-4589 router
This router has been nothing but problems since it was installed. Tech #1 says it goes down 10 times a day but it's not a big deal because some customers internet goes down up to 10000 times a month!!!. He says The Hiltron is unfixable as it is using a Puma chipset, and a firmware update by the manufacturer has not been made available to internet providers. Phone tech say this is nonsense and tech #1 is crazy, the Hiltron-4589 can be fixed so that a modem isn't dropping up to 10000 a month. So the obvious question is can the router be fixed or will the router dropouts continue?
I call tech support every day to let them know the number of times my router goes down and they automatically give me a credit whenever I call - which is every day, so basically I'm not paying for the internet part of my package!! So does any one know if Tech #1 is right or is the phone tech right?

[TV] Year old billing issue
Hi,
I'm reaching out here because I've basically run out of options. I'm hoping someone here can either put me in contact with the right person, or at least look into this situation.
In January (of 2019!), I was looking into buy a couple Cogeco boxes second hand. Sure enough I found a seller on Kijiji that was selling a couple of units. I did my due diligence and requested the serial numbers. I called up Cogeco and talked to an associate about the serial numbers and they came back as privately owned NOT RENTALS. I then purchased the boxes from the seller, picked them up and brought them home. I called Cogeco that night and everything was brought under my account and everything seemed to be just fine. Everything was just fine until I actually payed attention to my bill about 4 months later (my fault for not catching sooner).
One of the units (the HD Recorder) on my bill was listed as a HD Recorder Rental. What? Ok, surely this is a mistake. As you know, a person can not just hand someone their rental box and have it activated on their account. It has to go back to Cogeco first and then redistributed by them. I Call Cogeco, they understand the situation and credit me the difference from the bills. They assure me that the system is old, and it may take a couple of months to correct but I would no longer be charged as a rental. As a sign of good faith they even credited me the difference in bills for a few extra months.
Nothing changed. I call Cogeco back, I believe in November or December, and once again am credit the difference etc and am assured that this will be escalated and the situation taken care of.
I just got my new bill in my email and sure enough its still there.
What else can I do?

Can't Bridge New Coda-4589 Modem And Cogeco Won't Do It Either
Just upgraded to the 360/30 Unlimited, bill went down 20 bucks :) In doing so I was given the Coda-4589 Modem. I asked installer to bridge the modem as I would like to use my own router and he said he did, upon going onto Xbox Live I now had a double NAT causing issues. I noticed the the modem is "not" bridged so I went in to do it myself, the modem will not save the settings. I called Cogeco and was told that they could set the modem to bridged but when they found out I have Tivo they said they can't bridge the modem. I bridged my last modem and Tivo worked fine, any thoughts?

TSN GO available to Cogeco customers again
Shouldn't have been taken away for a year though.

only 20Mbps upload on 360/30Mbps package
This isn't a life or death situation - I just wanted to mention it in case it gets worse.
Up until about 2 weeks ago, I was consistently getting 30Mbps upload speed. It seems that since the end of December the upload speed has been much more inconsistent ranging between 15 and 25Mbps.
Its still above 10 and usually about 20, so its not that big of a deal; however, I just thought I'd point it out in case it gets worse and or in the hopes that it doesnt get worse.
The download speed is mostly consistent around 350 - 370Mbps which is fine.

Outrageous cogeco message about my usage
Warning: bandwidth usage at 2147 GB, 2019-12-06!!!!!!
To help you manage your Internet usage, Cogeco sends notifications to your Cogeco email address when you are approaching 70%, 90% and 100% of....
I am at 175 GB.... when did they send those messages? Also, the chart on my cogeco page shows: (DL/UL/Total)
Total(MB) 125,511.00 MB 5,811.00 MB 131,322.00 MB
and this is for the period 9Nov-8Dec
I cannot find an email of theirs to send them my complaint.

[INTERNET] FREE internet upgrade from Cogeco!
Last October, I signed up for a TV & internet bundle with a 2-year guaranteed loyalty discount of $32/mo, on top of the $15/mo bundle rebate. With the discounts applied, my monthly bill was $46.50 for Basic TV, My Mix 10 and 2 HD receivers, and $53.95 for UltraFibre 40 with a 175 GB limit, totalling $100.45 plus $13.06 HST. Before the October price adjustment, I was paying $2.50 more.
I was surprised when my November bill showed an upgrade 40 Unlimited, and the December & January bills showed a further upgrade to 60 Unlimited, with no increase in cost. Finally, on January 3, I received a snail mail letter to tell me they were giving me the upgrade (worth $15/mo) FREE as a loyal customer. The regular price for my bundle, for which I pay $100.45, is $149.50 plus HST. ($99.00 for new customers for 12 months.) I suppose for another $5 I could go to 120 Unlimited, the fastest available in my area.
It's rare to be able to praise Cogeco for an unsolicited upgrade. They are finally providing what loyal customers have been begging for for years - higher speeds with unlimited bandwidth for an affordable price.

[INTERNET] speedtest.net OK but very slow otherwise (test results in post)
This morning I got my new Cogeco 320/30 package installed at the house.
I could really use some advise on how to speak to cogeco to get this resolved.
I'm getting good results from speedtest.net (250/25) which of course is just a speedtest from my house to cogeco in burlington... kind of a useless test for actual internet speeds... but it does confirm that my local network, physical lines and connect to cogeco's network are all in decent working order.
Whenever I try to download something not hosted by cogeco, or do a speedtest like http://testmy.net I'm getting about 10 down and 3 up.
When I speak to cogeco, they say that speedtest.net is the only valid speedtest, which is sham, since it doesnt test my speed out to the actual internet.
Speedtest results within the past few minutes:
Google Speed Test: 36/12
Testmy.net: 11/3
performance.cira.ca (Vancouver): 3/2 (ouch)
performance.cira.ca (Toronto): 41/13
Speedtest.net: 255/25
I've also just tested each of these above on my still active start.ca 40/10 connection and I got the following results:
Google Speed Test: 37/8
Testmy.net: 40/8
performance.cira.ca (Vancouver): 37/8
performance.cira.ca (Toronto): 39/9
Speedtest.net: 41/10
Also, does anyone know the username and password cogeco uses as default on these modems? The internet says cusadmin/password or /password but neither of these work. Getting incorrect password error.

Notice of Settlement - Class Action
I've gotten an email saying there is a class action lawsuit against Cogeco and that I'll be compensated because my account was part of the billing mess that Cogeco had not that long ago. I was wondering if anyone else got it too? I'd post the email here, but I'm not sure what parts are unique to my account, or if it's just a general email that everyone got. I can't find anything about it online. It seems real. It does say I don't have to do anything to stay part of it. It came from cogeco@communications.cogeco.ca

Self Install Fee? Really?!?
I was trying to cut back on my Cogeco bill by getting rid of all my rental boxes, I've activated used boxes before without any issue, but this time I've been hit with a $22.60 Self Install Fee. I see no mention of this anywhere and was not told be any of the representatives that there would be a fee.

HItron Coda 4589 + HT-EMN3 extender
I had these installed the other day.
The HT-EMN3 extender was set to mirror the settings from the main router/modem... I am having some wifi issues where some google homes etc .are slow to respond. I believe it is because those devices are in an area of the home where the signal strength from both the modem and the extender are about the same. I think the devices enter into some kind of unstable state where they keep switching networks or something.
I found the IP address of the extender, logged in. Turned mirroring off, set up a separate SSID for the extender.
I connected devices to the appropriate AP (router or extender) and the issue seems to have gone away.
I just did this now, so I'll have to wait and see if the problem comes back.
Has anybody else fooled around with the extenders etc?

We send out group emails to members' personal email accounts at their request. Could you look into this issue and see if we have been blacklisted for oectahalton.ca or unionstrategiesinc.com.
I will monitor this forum for a response and can also be reached at it@unionstrategiesinc.com.

[INTERNET] Issues with coda-4589 told to swamp don't know which to pick
So i had to call a tech out to swap my old arris tg3452a which was giving me packet loss issues while gaming and the tech gave me the coda 4589 and told me its a much better modem my only issue now is i'm on the 360mbps plan and i'm getting 100-200mbps speeds but not having packet loss issues. i then read about both modems and seen they both have the puma6 chipset so is the coda-4589 eventually gonna have the same issue with my old arris and is this low speeds just a bad modem or do others have this issue? i was told i can swap the modem don't know if i should go back to my old arris tg3452a since i got max speeds with it and the packet loss issues would go away for a day with a modem reset or try my luck with another coda 4589? real conflicted on what to do.

Any reason why Cogeco doesn't have Fox News in HD? I only see it in SD. Bell has it and so does Rogers.

[INTERNET] Gigabit availibility
Today, the Cogeco address check tool shows that the 1 gig service is now available at my address in Peterborough. Seems most of the buildings around me are eligible, while other addresses in Peterborough are still limited to 120/10. There's been some digging going on around the condo buildings here and I assumed it was Bell fibre as that confirmed to be installed (they already installed the Bell fibre jack in my condo). Any way to confirm the address is indeed eligible for gigabit?
