Just upgraded to the 360/30 Unlimited, bill went down 20 bucks :) In doing so I was given the Coda-4589 Modem. I asked installer to bridge the modem as I would like to use my own router and he said he did, upon going onto Xbox Live I now had a double NAT causing issues. I noticed the the modem is "not" bridged so I went in to do it myself, the modem will not save the settings. I called Cogeco and was told that they could set the modem to bridged but when they found out I have Tivo they said they can't bridge the modem. I bridged my last modem and Tivo worked fine, any thoughts?

Speeds range from 12 Mbit to under 100 MBit per sec for a 1 Gbit???
Yes, that is correct. I pay for the 1 Gbit connection but today I absolutely lost my s*** when we could not for the life of us, connect to Youtube on the TV in the next room. Let me preface this by saying that there was a time when the speeds were "OK." Sure, I was never ever anywhere close to 1 Gbit, but I was able to AT LEAST get 5-600 Mbit per sec. It was rare but for the most part, was fine. But think how insane that is: I get less than half (usually more like 1/8th) of the speed I pay for, and I am too scared to downgrade for fear that it will just mean getting the same fraction of speed for the new downgraded speed.
So I did the usual, disconnected every single device in the home, whether hard wired or wifi, and ran a laptop (with absolutely no apps running) with a Cat 6 ethernet conection straight to the modem. Yes, I tried multiple cables and tried all of the ports on the modem. No difference. And as I said before, I have done this in the past and the speeds were "fine" but for the last few days, it has been a crawl. Here is what Ookla's speedtest gave me:
On Firefox: 37 ping 81 down 30 up
On Chrome: 9 ping 13 down 31 up
On Explorer: 47 ping 83 down 27 up
I also tried a chromebook and it was essentially the same. Anyone have any ideas? Nothing has changed here. I'm at a loss. Literally.....

[INTERNET] cogeco dns
hi,
I did a speed test with dns benchmark app and the cogeco dns are the fastest, im really surprised. Faster than cloudflare, quad and google..
So maybe I could keep the isp ones but my question is: Do you think cogeco :
**Does your ISP hijack invalid DNS answers?
***Are they known to log customers' DNS requests?
thanks

[INTERNET] Packet loss, latency, etc.
Hello all
Has anyone have any success with Cogeco fixing packet loss and latency issues? I see a few posts in this and the Direct forum regarding these issues and I'm wondering if anyone got anywhere with Cogeco other than "it's congestion, nothing we can do" answers.
I have been running Ping Plotter pretty much around the clock this week and for me it's not only an evenings issue but I see packet losses even in "off peak" hours.
I'm mainly looking for input to see if this is even worth fighting about or do I need to change providers so I can actually use the internet without getting frustrated.
I am attaching a couple pictures from Ping Plotter. One from afternoon and one from evening. To me that is not acceptable but maybe I'm expecting too much?
Thank you!

[INTERNET] Device name - can it be changed
Does anyone know if there is a way to change the Host Name in the Hitron. These are a bunch of smart switches and they all have the same "*" for a name. I have about 10 of them and it would be nice to identify which one is which for trouble shooting purposes.

[TV] TiVo New Interface - Still Sluggish?
I left Cogeco back in November for Bell Fibe TV. Unfortunately, because of issues with the HH3000 Router and all the work arounds to try and use my own routers, I'm at the point where I'm seriously contemplating going back to Cogeco.
However, my biggest complaint with Cogeco were two things. First, the new Tivo interface they rolled out recently was very sluggish - almost like the hardware couldn't keep up with the changes they made. Is this still the case?
Secondly, at odd times throughout the day or week, my WiFi/Internet service would just drop out. I saw a bunch of random hits coming in on the Cogeco Modem log files and could never figure out what they were. Technicians came by, said there was some noise on the line but they seemed to resolve it (at least they thought they did), even changed my modem out and gave me 300Mbps service at no additional charge.
I'm in the Oakville area. Anyways, just wondering what the current experience is with Cogeco. At least with them I know I can put the modem in bridge mode without all these work arounds and truly control my own Wifi.

Second TV
I have TiVo service. I am wondering about hooking up a second TV. I understand that there are no techs going into houses now. I know how to hook up a cable box. If I hook up the second TV I have to split the line. Will this affect the TiVo service?

[INTERNET] Managed Device Question
Just a quick question. In the photo is the device setup so that internet access will be blocked 7 days a week between 00:00 and 07:00 (midnight to 7am)?
The managed weekdays can either be red or green I was getting confused if i should set it up to allow access (green) between certain times or block (red) access between certain times but then in the other screen you can just block the managed devices so im not sure what the red/green does, maybe someone has the answer.
Thanks

[INTERNET] Arris - disabling Wi-Fi and using AP?
Hi all:
I've got the Arris modem and the Wi-Fi reception is absolutely terrible. I'm considering picking up an Access Point and disabling Wi-Fi on the Arris. Has anyone done this before, and if so, have you run into issues? I find the Arris is a bit finicky to begin with, so thought I'd check here before I went down this road. I've also got Tivo, if that matters.
Thanks!

Moving Cogeco internet to another location
I might be moving. I moved before in the same apartment and they made it a hassle billing wise.. new account number (which is annoying changing autopay to my creditcard) and they slap a $70 install fee too. Which... Why? The line was active? The tech showed up and basically said "oh your internet is up? Ok... Bye"
This new location I have been to often before and I brought my modem there and it works just fine on the coax there. I get a solid 940 down and 31 up.
Can I just tell Cogeco to change the address on the account and tell them everything is done and setup?

Gigabit Availability?
I've been living at L9T in the Hawthorne neighbourhood for some time now, its a relatively new development, from probably around 2008-2009 if I were to throw a number out. Currently on the ultrafibre 120 package and the downloads... they're okay, but I'm definitely itching for better speed, the real killer for me is the upload; my working from home which is going to be a long term initiative requires me to VPN into the corporate network and working in a broadcast engineering role I'm often dealing with sending and receiving IP 2110 and NDI signals over VPNs, definitely not low bandwidth usage... and my upload of 10mbps.... makes this hilariously challenging. I know Cogeco has been offering gigabit in some neighbourhoods for quite some time now, but I've yet to hear anything on my neighbourhood, anyone have any idea on the gigabit timeline here?

ipv6
Does cogeco support the ipv6 protocol? Just an update. I guess they do but if I try to enter a public ipv4 and ipv6 address (for example google) in the modem settings under dns I lose ipv6 connectivity. I have the Hitron Coda 4589. Now if I leave the dns settings on auto in the modem and set Windows dns setting manualy to googles I then have both ipv4 and ipv6 connectivity. I read lots of people are able to setup their modem's dns setting to a public one and not have problems with ipv6. Is this just a cogeco thing?

[TV] Amazon prime on cogeco tivo
