Why doesn't Cogeco negotiate?

I've been with Cogeco for 6 months, my promotional deal of $82 for 60 internet, my pick 40 tv with TIVO+mini, home phone is ending. I called Cogeco to negotiate and see what they can do for me in terms of price and the best they can do is: $165/month for 60/10 internet, my pick 10 tv with TIVO+mini with a 1 year contract, which is basically their regular price but with a TIVO PVR fee waived for 1 year (yay?) So, half the services, double the price, and a 1 year contract lock-in with a possible mid-contract $5-$10 increase. How is this acceptable? I quoted a $100 deal that Bell has offered me and Cogeco just outright said we're not gonna even try to match it. Not only Cogeco has reduced their promotions for new customers from 1 year to 6 months, but they don't even try to compete. What gives? Btw, Cogeco's wifi router sucks, constantly disconnects like every 30 minutes.

Looks like with the "fantastic" upgrade the Cogeco is currently working on they now have a better bandwidth meter for internet. You don't have to wait until the next day to see what you've used. I'm not sure on the update frequency. They've also added a "TV Usage" meter.. Not really sure what that would be about.. Maybe it will tell you how much you've recorded on your DVR? Interesting that everything is now measured in Mebibytes.. Didn't think it was a thing.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mebibyte

Does anybody know what COGECO's whole home wifi system uses. i.e. is it a mesh system like GOOGLE WIFI... and more specifically which hardware is used. Just curious. Thanks,

Power outage causes immediate modem disconnect

Over the last week or so I've had a few power outages and momentary brownouts (mostly from hydro repairs after the wind storms in the GTA) and every time my cable modem immediately goes offline, despite it having both its own battery and plugged in to my own UPS. It takes anywhere from half an hour to a couple hours for it to come back online. My assumption is that whatever equipment in my neighbourhood that is on the other end is not on any battery backup. As frustrating as it is to lose internet access due to a brownout, my bigger concern would be around 911 access for those using Cogeco's home phone. I would assume it is inoperable during this time (I don't have it so I can't confirm). Does anyone else have the same problem or know if there's some sort of regulatory requirement around guaranteeing (within battery lifetime limits) 911 access?

[TV] Can tivo mini be moved to another room without issue?

So i just took the tivo mini out of my son's room, along with his tv and move it into my room (which used to have a mini in it) and i hooked it all up and the light comes on the mini but there is nothing on the tv. Nothing needs to be changed on cogeco's end right, just for a simple room switch? As i said, i have had a mini in this room, so i can confirm the cable is working and my old tivo mini worked.

Again my upload has up and run away, I contacted support Late April about this, I was given an appointment to come replace my modem DID NOT show, I called and asked why was told I should have never been told that unless I had NO service, Thanks a day spent waiting for someone to come and nothing, the only good thing was, for the first time in over 3 years I got a new I.P over night , got good speed both up and down, Untill last weekend and upload dropped to next to nothing , again tonight upload of 0.01Mbps guess I am not going to get a service call because I do have service???

We've been dealing with issues with our 60mb unlimited internet for the last few years. We've had tech's out 3 or 4 times and have had the modem replaced 3 times. The issue in the beginning was momentary dropping of the connection to the point where we would be surfing the net and the browser would display an "unable to connect to internet" message. The last time the tech came out and changed the modem to a 5gh modem and stated, if the problem continues after this, then it has to be the outside lines. Well a year has gone by, and the internet issues were sporadic and a pain in the ass, but we dealt with it thinking that the issue is never going to be fixed. Then as we began to use Netflix streaming more, we began to notice picture degradation, where the picture would pixelate and become blurry for about 20 seconds and then return to normal on a tv that is hardwired with a 15 foot Cat6 ethernet cable. We then contacted Cogeco to come out last Saturday and upon arriving and checking the connection, the tech said, "Oh yeah. Your modem is flapping. Its flapping a lot actually". As he continued to check things, he stated that our entire building is flapping, and then further investigation revealed that an entire neighborhood node was flapping. He proceeded to tell me that flapping is a momentary disconnection, many of which are not even noticed, and that the number represents the number of disconnections. He then stated that an optimal flapping reading should be in single digits. Our reading was 1974. Most of the building was in double digits with some others in the 4 digit range. There were other addresses in our immediate area that were even higher than ours, and he pointed out that he had another service call after ours in the neighborhood for the same complaint. He did also state that the flapping was detected during the previous service call last year. He said that he would have to put in a service call to have the node checked, which he said would probably take a few days. My frustration is that nobody ever mentioned anything about any flapping or even the possibility of it during previous service calls. We were always made to feel as if it was because we lived in an apartment building, or it was something we were doing or that there was nothing wrong at all. The issue still hasnt been corrected as of today either. Anyone have any knowledge or experience with this?

All, As we're all abundantly familiar with, Cogeco has had ongoing billing system issues. Well, here's another. While Cogeco did (underwhelmingly) communicate with customers that account numbers will change, they have completely neglected to inform the banks as many banks are apparently refusing to accept the new format as a valid account number. One cannot currently post payments through many online banking portals to the new numbers it seems. Cogeco is making it impossible to pay them!

Would this include Cogeco Wi-Fi modem I have a D link so I reset it On Friday, the FBI warned that anyone who uses a router to connect to the internet should reboot their routers. The warning is related to Russian malware (malicious software) called VPNFilter that can secretly install itself onto internet routers and collect data from an unsuspecting user. So far, it's estimated that 500,000 devices — mostly from Ukraine — have been affected. Rebooting internet routers will "temporarily disrupt the malware and aid the potential identification of infected devices," according to the FBI. The agency also recommends disabling your routers' remote-management settings and updating the password you use to access your router's settings.

So i have a Tivo and 2 mini's in my house. The mini's are in my kids bedrooms, however i'm looking for a solution either through the Tivo itself or possibly blocking through the router if needed somehow. I need to find a way to be able to block access to the youtube app on the tivo mini whenever needed. I'm aware that on the main tivo i can remove the app, i'm aware i can also set a pin for parental access, neither of these options work as the ability to add an app from any mini is readily available from the main menu without needing a pin, the kids found this out. I need to be able to block access to youtube when the children get out of control, and short of just removing the mini from their room i haven't found that ability. I've looked through the router settings and i can't find anything related to control of any tivo units, but surely there must be some option for me.

This is not a windows related issue. I have 3 pc's in this house and many other devices on wifi, NOTHING is able to access the site in question however it is NOT down because i can access on my phone using LTE, i can access on PC using a proxy. I had this issue about a month ago and rebooting the router fixed it, however after 3 reboots of the router and losing all of my settings (wifi logins etc) nothing is resolving this. Any idea how to resolve such a situation? this is the error in chrome This site can’t be reached --------- took too long to respond. Is streaming to the TiVo app working for others here when away from home network? Mine has stopped and only gives the the message in the attachment. Streaming and downloading work on my home network, and downloading works away from home but not direct streaming. It seems to indicate all videos have streaming blocked, even those on the Cogeco channel. Thanks, RK

Just notices a notice for TiVo Bolt in the Tivo Central. Says it is a way to "Celebrate Dads and Grads. Give them a new TiVo Bolt for $0 down" I looked on the Cogeco web site and cannot find any reference to the Bolt. Is Cogeco going to allow us to purchase this new device?

Can someone tell me why something would not record with this message? Wife has the Bachelorette set for one pass on channel 704, and for some reason it did not record this week with this message, ( No longer in guide ) actually any show she tried to record from that day says that on this channel . Yet I can watch tv on that channel. I am newish to TIVO so have no fricken idea what this is, needless to say, unhappy wife.
